Bhains Colony, home to a large number of minority families, has always been known for its peaceful and community-oriented environment. The establishment of a liquor shop in such a locality has sparked anger and disappointment among the residents, who feel their voices and values are being ignored.
Ilyas Gill emphasized that the presence of such shops near residential areas—especially those inhabited by religious minorities—creates social disturbances, encourages youth to engage in destructive habits, and goes against the principles of community welfare. He urged the relevant government authorities to immediately intervene, cancel the license, and ensure such decisions are made with proper consultation with local representatives.
"The people of Bhains Colony deserve safety, respect, and a peaceful environment. Opening a liquor shop in the heart of a minority-populated area is not just unacceptable—it is an insult to the values we stand for," Ilyas Gill stated in his protest.
He further appealed to party leadership, civil society, and religious organizations to join the call and support the demand for the immediate closure of the liquor outlet. The PPP Minority Wing remains committed to protecting the rights and dignity of all communities, and this protest is a step toward ensuring that the voices of minorities are heard and respected.
This protest has gained support from various community members, local leaders, and activists who share the concern that such commercial decisions should not override the well-being and cultural sensitivities of the local population.
